South Africa commemorates Women’s Month in August as a tribute to the more than 20 000 women who marched to the Union Buildings on 9 August 1956 in protest against the extension of Pass Laws to women. The Government of South Africa declared August women’s month and 9 August is celebrated annually as Women’s Day.

In celebration of Woman’s Month, the NPA is hosting a Community Dialogue on the Maintenance Act and related issues.

 

Mothers, attorneys, public, paralegals, social workers, NGO’s and all that deal with maintenance issues could benefit from this free workshop to be held on Saturday 20 August 2022 in Cape Town.

  • Natalie Ruiters – Mediation as a means of reducing the maintenance court’s work load and bringing a Restorative and humane touch to Maintenance. How Mediation can reduce workloads and Mediators play a meaningful role in Maintenance matters

 

  • Women of Courage : Women who wish to share their stories will be given a 10 minute slot to share their experience of the Maintenance courts

 

  • Questions written down and handed to the presenters will be addressed

 

  • Informal get together and discussion in the canteen (lunch and beverages will be available for sale)

The NPA Community Dialogue is a free service provided for the community and the all of the speakers / presenters offer up their spare time at no remuneration.
